If you have ever been a member of the military, you may be eligible for discounts on your car insurance. Many members enjoy the benefits of military discount car insurance. Why are these discounts offered? Most insurance companies want to do something to thank the members of the military for all that they do for the rest of us, and offering them a discount is just the least they can do to show their gratitude. Because car insurance can be so expensive having military discount car insurance can really help one to be able to afford the monthly premiums.

Some Insurance Companies Specialize in Helping Military Members

military discount car insurance

You can find insurance companies that specialize in working with members of the military, both current and retired. These companies will also work with other government employees to provide them insurance discounts. Insurance companies that work with military members offer many products and services at low rates, including car, home and life insurance.

Immediate family members of the insured military personnel are also covered by these policies. Sometimes, the discounts you can receive can be as much as 15% of the cost of a typical insurance policy, and there are also military discount car insurance packages for members of the National Guard and the Army Reserves. If you are in dangerous situations, there are other military discount car insurance packages available.

Don’t Worry if You are Deployed

At one time, many insurance companies would charge members of the military a lot more for their insurance if they were deployed to dangerous areas. Many military members found that when they arrived back home, they were penalized for having been gone, and their insurance rates increased. This is no longer the case with most insurers.

Due to the diligence of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents, more than 25 states have passed legislation that keeps insurers from penalizing any military members who have been deployed. You could save as much as 15% on your insurance, or up to $400 a year.

If you are deployed, you don’t have to worry about your insurance rates increasing. If you do live in a state where you can’t get protection against penalization, theft, vandalism or acts of God, you can store your vehicle while you are deployed, and there will be no penalties when you come back, and no discontinuation of coverage.

Getting the Best Rates Means Shopping Around

Just because you are dealing with an insurance company that specializes in working with military members, it doesn’t mean that you are going to get the best military discount car insurance. You need to shop around to make sure that you are going to get the best rates. Calling around to get quotes from a variety of insurers, and not just insurers that specialize in helping military members, to see who has the best products, services and rates is the best way to do this. We can use your zip code to get you many quotes from insurers in your area, as well as national insurers so you can decide which company is going to offer you the best military discount car insurance.
